CHARITY

Charity Support by Direct Hygiene Limited and its Directors.

Direct Hygiene Limited have a dedicated supported charity in Animals Asia Foundation, UK charity number 1086903. We print details of this charity on our letterheads and compliment slips. Our offices are also decorated with prints portraying the work done by the charity. We also send out regular newsletters with our invoices to help spread the word.

Animals Asia support animal welfare in the far east and specifically have bear santuraries in China and Vietnam. Headed by Jill Robinson MBE, the charity has recued many hundred moon bears from life of cruelty in bear farms where they held in crush cages to have their bile extracted daily. Many of the bears rescued do not survive long as they have suffered too much and are often riddled with disease and cancers. Those who do survive are given often their first chance of freedom and the care and love they never had before. The charity also does major work for the welfare of dogs and cats under their "Friends or Food" campaign.

We dare you to visit the Animals Asia website and to read Jill's Blog. There are many happy positive reports but also ones that make most people shed a few tears.

Directors Julie Stock and Steve Ashcroft got involved with this charity in late 2007 and have given generously from both their company and personal pockets. By Janurary 2010 they have given over £40,000 to the charity. (* see note below)

In 2009 Julie and Steve raised even more money for the charity with the fantastic Calendar Vets 2010 calendar. Forget calendar girls, this is calendar vets, all local young vetininary staff posing with their pets. Direct Hygiene Ltd sponsored all of the costs associated with the calendar and raised over £10,000.

Calendar Vets 2010

YOU can purchase one online at www.calendarvets.co.uk or on www.ebay.co.uk (and search "calendar vets" or "moon bears") for just £5 or £10 and every penny will go direct to Animals Asia Foundation.

Direct Hygiene also sponsors a moon bear in China called Gypsy. She was one of the lucky ones that survived from the rescue in March 2008 and despite over 6 months of veterinary care and rehabilitation she now enjoys some freedom in the safety of the Chuengdu sanctuary.

Gypsy not long after she was rescued.
